It is always my intention to uphold your confidentiality. There are 3 circumstances in which, I am legally bound to break confidentiality, these are:
-
Circumstances involving the suspicion of abuse (child, elder or dependent adult). It is not within my purview to determine if abuse is occurring, but I am required to report situations that appear as if they could be abusive.
-
Suicide or serious risk of self-harm. We will work together, always, to ensure your physical safety, however if we are not able to come up with a sufficient plan together, I may be required to take additional steps to maintain your safety.
-
Homicide or serious risk of harm towards others. I am legally and ethically bound to take any necessary actions to protect others from serious injury or actions that may lead to death.
Electronic Communications
I strive to limit electronic communications to scheduling related concerns as confidentiality cannot be guaranteed through text and email.
